Art is very much at the heart of the house, What is on the walls is just as important as far as I am concerned as a good nights sleep and a delicious breakfast.
From Old family portraits, to many works by my grandfather, his sister Helen who lived outside of Tobermory, and one or two by his daughter, my aunt Maryel. from Topographical drawings and prints of the highlands and islands, by Thomas Daniell and others.
Along with family pieces I am adding a more contemporary stamp on the house with works, often by Scottish artists such as Craigie Atchison, Calum Innes, Andrew Cranston, Hugh Buchannan, Will Maclean, Ian Hamilton Finlay, and Thomas A Clarks wonderful map of Scottish place names, among others by Tom Hammick, Craig Murray-Orr and Georgia Moors.
One bathroom is filled with works from West Indian artists, Passagways are lined with books, prints and old maps, rooms are filled with pottery from Mull, by Charlotte Mellis, and Rowena Brown from Iona, a wonderful ceramic piece by Maria Christoferson, Pia White glass bricks and a bronze by Indian artist Hamali Bhuta.
